Jennifer and Emanuel’s Bo-Kaap Engagement Session was exactly that.

We started off walking through the colourful streets, just letting the rhythm of the area guide us. Bo-Kaap has this unique feel which I've always loved! A blend of history, culture, and colour that’s unmistakably Cape Town. We chatted, laughed, took and went with the flow. Although I have a few areas I like to use, I think going with the flow is really important.

Jennifer wore a bold red dress that couldn’t have been more perfect against the backdrops. It literally popped in every pic, and it was her energy that really stood out. She’s got this sparky, quick-witted, fun vibe that matched Emanuel’s quieter warmth perfectly. And that smile of his? Completely effortless and absolutely contagious.

As we walked deeper into the area, we stumbled on that one spot! You know, the one where everything just lines up. At the top of the stairs overlooking Bo-Kaap with Table Mountain in the background, soft late afternoon light, and a stunning sky too!

I kept the mood light, I always do. It’s not just about getting people to smile, it’s about helping them forget there’s a camera pointing at them. The result is natural, candid images that actually feel like real life rather than posed and stiff.

This Bo-Kaap Engagement Session was a reminder of why I love what I do. Great images come from connection and letting the story unfold naturally.

If you're newly engaged and thinking about where to do your shoot, Bo-Kaap is more than just a pretty backdrop, it’s a celebration of Cape Town’s spirit. If you're looking to do a fantastic engagement shoot, it's an unforgettable backdrop!
