Looking for a quirky wedding venue in Cape Town? Le Jardin Private villa is the one, and I loved shooting wedding photos there.

I thrive when wedding clients like a more creative approach. Kelly and Steves's big day was exactly this. It was fun, filled with love and they did nothing the ordinary way. In fact, check out this quote from my booking form, I love it!

"We love your play on lighting; the venue is fun and has awesome photo ops so you can be as creative as you wish! I would love to do a "first look" with my bridesmaids as they have no clue that I didn't buy the dress they all think I bought so the dress will be kept a secret from them until I'm all dressed and id love to capture their reactions. I would love to a do fun guest photo "run" - all the guests go stand in and around the venue in a spot they choose and then the DJ plays a song, and in that time we (Steve and I - and you :-)) have to run around to each of their locations and get a quick photo with them (smart one and fun one), we have to complete the run before the song ends (we only have 30 guests so it shouldn't be that hard he he he)."

When they met

Steve and Kelly met when Steve was a "skater" as in skateboarder. He had long hair and was pretty wild. Kelly is blond, beautiful and went to a private school. According to the speeches, it was a bit of a shock when Kelly introduced Steve to his parents. Fast forward 14 years and Steve runs a very successful engineering business and Kelly is an HR boffin. They are a perfect match. What a cool story!!

A quirky wedding venue

Le Jardin private villa is brilliantly quirky, in fact, it has a definite "Alice in Wonderland" feeling to it. The decor is adorable and they even have a fabulous working mini carousel! The photo opportunities were off the charts. The ceremony was in the front lawn and they held the reception in the glass atrium at the bottom of the garden. They filled it trees, fairy lights. It was a perfect magical space for the speeches, laughter and fun.

No first dance

The day was filled with fun, family laughter and quite a bit of whiskey too! Steve loves it and he loves to share it. In breaking from the norm, the couple decided not to have a first dance. At the end of the day, there are no rules that say what you can and cannot do. I think it's all about sharing a magical moment with your closest friends and family. :-)
